The education of Yorkshires, as for small dogs in general, does not really involve some of the imperatives related to the education of most large or medium-sized breeds, of the Malinois type for example...
A small York that doesn't listen is easier to pick up and put back on the right path than a Malinois (even though Yorkies are very fast !); that also makes their breed a perfect choice for a first canine experience.
Nevertheless, as they have a strong character, even a tendency to stubbornness
(little rascals who know very well what they want), the Yorkies need a clear and coherent education.
Firmness, if it becomes necessary, must on the other hand never lead to shout or use a threatening tone. Yorkshires remain very small dogs and do not forget that we are already giants by their side, who have no need to raise our voice to impress them; just be right in our demands and consistent over time.

In addition, the best education necessarily begins with observation : getting to know your York, what he likes, will help you considerably to make you be listened to.
Also give him the same unconditional love he offers you : he will be keen to please you if your relationship is based on trust and affection.
